Winter Raffle
Someone will win a $2,000 trip to Shambhala Mountain Center this summer. It could be you!
Our Winter Fundraiser Raffle is your chance to help the San Francisco Center achieve financial sustainability in 2012 -- and enjoy the priceless gift of dharma. The prize? A $2,000 credit good for round-trip airfare to Denver, ground transfers to and from Shambhala Mountain Center, tuition to any program, and your choice of housing -- from a private room in the lodges to a “warm and comfy” tent. Everyone is invited to participate -- from our local sangha in San Francisco to our friends in sanghas around the world. Every $25 entry gives you another chance to win -- so buy several tickets and increase your chances! You can purchase entries right here. Just click the banner at left to head directly to our secure PayPal donation site, where you can use your PayPal account or most major credit cards. No need to say that you’re purchasing a raffle ticket when you make your donation; everyone who donates online during the term of the raffle (December 13 , 2011 through February 20, 2012) will automatically be entered into the raffle. You can also enter the raffle at participating local Centers; look for the yellow entry forms. Raffle Rules and Regulations The raffle is sponsored by the San Francisco Shambhala Center, which is solely responsible for the contest and its prize fulfillment. Sorry, but raffles -- even raffles sponsored by non-profit organizations -- are not tax deductible in the United States. To limit our exposure to the possibility of losing money on this raffle, we reserve the right to withdraws the $2,000 prize if fewer than 300 raffle entries are sold. In this case, the winning entrant will receive a credit worth 50% of all raffle revenues. The winning entry will be drawn on Shambhala Day, February 22, 2012 at the San Francisco Shambhala Center. Anyone wishing to witness the drawing is invited to to attend. A video of the drawing will be posted on YouTube shortly thereafter. The winner’s name will be posted on the San Francisco site. Finally, a note about taxes. The winner of the raffle is responsible for all U.S. Federal or other income taxes on the retail value of the prize. To claim the prize, the winner must complete and a sign a form W-9. When required by law, a Form 1099-G identifying the winner and the prize will be filed with the IRS. For non-U.S. nationals, specific rules regarding income taxes will be followed. |
